Nancy Quickert
Born in San Francisco, Nancy Quickert grew up playing in the freshly excavated clay hills of the peninsula. She began throwing pots in high school, dabbled in the glaze studio at San Francisco State University, and has been working clay ever since.
Nancy established a home studio in Montara in 1974, built the kiln in 1981, sold in local galleries, craft fairs and open studios, began teaching clay to children in 1999, and expanded to adults in 2002. She continues to work, show, and sell locally.
Workshops with Maria Martinez, Daniel Rhodes, F. Carlton Ball, and Fred Olsen fueled her fire for exploring form and surface. Four decades in the studio have developed her skill in creating a lightweight style of high-fired functional ware. She employs natural patterns and subtle colors that are a pleasure for daily use.
She is a member of the Association of Clay and Glass Artists, Colony of Coastside Artists, and Made on the Coast.
